Shai Hope will lead the team. The squad features a mix of young players who have played big roles for the West Indies recently and Romario Shepherd who is back in the ODI team for the first time since Bangladesh last year.
Daren Sammy, the head coach, is looking good. He says this series is important for now and for the long term. Sammy acknowledges that Pakistan will be a different test as they are working towards qualifying for the 2027 World Cup automatically. Qualification is the immediate goal but keeping a winning mentality and good team work is key to long term success.
Sammy says the upcoming games against strong teams like Pakistan are very important. They give the West Indies a chance to get ranking points which will help them move up the table before the World Cup.

he squad includes two young players who are seen as future stars. Jediah Blades, 23 year old left arm spinner, played his first ODI against Bangladesh in December last year. Jewel Andrew, 18 year old wicket-keeper and batter, played his first T20 International in the series against Pakistan that just ended.
