The image he found became his phone wallpaper, and it gave him the confidence he needed to perform under pressure. Siraj then delivered an incredible spell, taking five wickets on the final day and finishing with a total of nine wickets in the match. His amazing performance was key to India leveling the series 2-2, wrapping up the match in style.
Mohammed Siraj expressed his joy and satisfaction after India’s thrilling win in the fifth Test. “To be honest, it feels amazing. From Day 1, everyone fought hard, and the result speaks for itself. I’m very happy. The plan was to keep it simple, hit a consistent spot, and not try too much. If I can get wickets from there, it’s a bonus and builds pressure,” Siraj shared in the post-match presentation.
He added, “When I woke up today, I had the belief that I could do it. I had the belief system. I took a photo from Google that read ‘I can do it’ and set it as my wallpaper.”
Mohammed Siraj also spoke about his mistake in dropping Harry Brook’s catch, a moment he felt put India in a tough spot during the match. “If I had taken that (Brook) catch properly, maybe we wouldn’t have had to come today. It was a game-changing moment. But Brook played really well, hats off to him for playing aggressive cricket,” Siraj admitted.
Reflecting on India’s earlier loss at Lord’s, Siraj described it as heartbreaking. He shared how Ravindra Jadeja offered him valuable advice during that time: “He (Jadeja) was just telling me to play with a straight bat and middle the ball. He told me to remember my father and the hard work he put in to get me here.”
