As the Men’s Asia Cup 2025 approaches, the Indian cricket team is busy finalizing its squad and preparing for the highly anticipated tournament starting on September 9. One key player under the spotlight right now is Hardik Pandya, who will be undergoing a crucial fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on August 11 and 12.
Pandya, who has been training in Mumbai since mid-July, is a vital part of India’s recent success, contributing significantly to the team’s victories in the T20 World Cup and the Champions Trophy. His fitness clearance is mandatory before the official squad announcement for the Asia Cup. The team management is counting on his all-round skills to make an impact in the upcoming tournament.
Alongside Hardik, Shreyas Iyer has already completed his fitness assessment between July 27 and 29. Iyer recently showcased excellent leadership by guiding Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final. A year ago, he captained Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL title. However, he has not featured in T20 Internationals since December 2023, leaving fans wondering if he will secure a spot in the Asia Cup squad.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav, the current Indian T20I captain, is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia. He is spending additional time at the NCA for rehabilitation and is expected to return to full fitness soon. Recently, he shared an encouraging video on Instagram showing his return to batting practice, signaling his determination to lead the team in the upcoming tournament.
Yadav’s last competitive stint was in the IPL 2025 season, where he had an impressive run for Mumbai Indians, scoring 717 runs. He finished as the second-highest run-scorer of the season, just behind Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan, who won the Orange Cap.
The Asia Cup is set to feature eight teams, and India will kick off their campaign against the UAE on September 10. With key players like Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav aiming to be in top shape, fans are eagerly waiting to see India’s performance on the continental stage.
